Looking for epic family activities in Newcastle that’ll have the kids (and the adults) buzzing? Forget boring days out – Junkyard Golf Club Newcastle brings the ultimate mash-up of crazy golf, whacky obstacles, and family fun that’ll have everyone giddy.
Newcastle’s packed with family-friendly spots, but none quite like the neon-drenched, junk-filled madness of our crazy golf club. We’re not your grandad’s golf course – we’re four insane 9-hole courses filled with the weirdest junk you’ve ever putted through. Think creepy clowns, cage-fighting bears, and UV toilets that’ll blow your mind!
Regular mini-golf can be a snooze fest. At Junkyard Golf Club Newcastle, we’ve turned traditional putt-putt on its head with courses that’ll have the whole family laughing, competing, and navigating through bonkers obstacles.
Each of our four crazy courses tells its own bizarre story, with themes ranging from dystopian fairgrounds to polluted paradises. Kids love the bright colours, weird props, and unexpected challenges around every corner. Parents? They’re usually too busy trying to beat their 10-year-old’s score while pretending they’re not competitive.
The beauty of Junkyard Golf Club for Newcastle families is that it works for everyone – competitive teenagers can battle it out for family bragging rights, younger kids can get stuck into the whacky scenery, and parents can enjoy a well-deserved cocktail between holes. Speaking of which, our bars serve up epic drinks for grown-ups and mocktails for the junior golfers!
Prepare your putting skills for four unique 9-hole adventures:
Fancy taking the family on a trip to a polluted paradise? In a jungle gone wrong, course Pablo has you facing off against cage-fighting UFC bears, avoiding crashed planes inhabited by chimps, and coming head to head with a pig driving a stolen speedboat. Kids love spotting all the twisted creatures. It’s chaotic, it’s colourful, and it’s completely bonkers – in the best possible way.
Gary’s scrapyard garage remix is a nostalgic treat for parents and mind-blowing for kids who love a party! An indoor slide off the roof of a smashed-up Mini, piles of auto-junk and disco balls, and rave rooms that’ll have everyone dancing between shots. The UV room is a special feature for kids and adults alike, so grab your white trainers and get ready for the strobe lights!
Step right up to our dystopian FEARground! Little ones and grown-ups alike will putt past creepy clowns, over ferris wheels made of skulls, and through abandoned merry-go-rounds. Our twisted hall of mirrors is particularly popular with families – perfect for pulling funny faces and creating memories while trying to figure out which way to the next hole!
How Old Do You Need to Be to Play at Junkyard Golf Newcastle?
All players under 18 are welcome on off-peak days until 7pm (last golf slot is at 6pm), when accompanied by an adult (someone 18+). After 7pm on off-peak days (Sun-Thurs), and all day on pea days (Fri-Sat), we transform into an adults-only playground – perfect for parents to return for a date night!
Our bars are more like nightclubs than golf clubs, but we’ve got plenty to keep the whole family refreshed:
For the grown-ups, we’ve got a menu of epic cocktails that’ll make waiting for your turn much more enjoyable. Try the Disco is Dead (served in an actual disco ball) or the sweet-tooth satisfying Fizz Pop topped with popping candy and bubblegum bottles for a retro twist.
Kids and non-drinkers aren’t left out of the fun with our range of mocktails and soft drinks that are just as colourful and exciting as our alcoholic options. Just don’t blame us for the sugar rush!
While we don’t serve full meals, our bar snacks can help fuel your family golf battle. We’ve got nacho sharing plates, pizza twists, and even stuff to cover the gluten free and vegans amongst you! If you’re looking for a proper 3 course meal, we recommend grabbing something before or after – there are plenty of family-friendly restaurants just minutes away from our Newcastle venue.
Booking ahead is definitely recommended for families, especially during school holidays and Sundays when we get busy. Our online booking system makes it easy to secure your spot – just head to our website and select your preferred date, time, and tickets.
For the best family experience, we recommend:
Make a full day of family fun by combining your Junkyard Golf adventure with these nearby Newcastle attractions:
Before Your Round: The Great North Museum: Hancock is just a short walk away and makes a brilliant educational warm-up before the madness of our courses. The kids can learn something before they lose their minds in our crazy golf playground.
Refuel Nearby: After working up an appetite on our courses, there are plenty of casual family-friendly dining options that suit all tastes. Try Fat Hippo for an epic burger or Portofino for pizza and pasta.
Extend the Fun: For families with energy to burn after conquering our courses, head to the Quayside for a scenic walk along the Tyne. The iconic bridges make a great backdrop for family photos to remember your day out.
Make it a Weekend: Visiting from further afield? Stay overnight at the Maldron Hotel next door and combine Junkyard Golf Club with a trip to Life Science Centre or Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art for a weekend of culture and craziness that the whole family will love.
Regular family activities often fall into two categories: boring-but-educational or fun-but-mindless. Junkyard Golf smashes these categories apart by creating an experience that sparks imagination, encourages friendly competition, and creates genuine laugh-out-loud moments.
Where else in Newcastle can your family putt through apocalyptic fairgrounds, twisted jungles, and scrapyard disco dens all in one afternoon? The answer is nowhere, because we’re weird and proud of it!
Forget typical family days out – Junkyard Golf Newcastle delivers memories, laughs, and maybe a few competitive family arguments over who got the best score. Our weird and wonderful courses are waiting to transport your family into worlds where the rules of regular golf (and reality) don’t apply.
Booking is simple through our website, but walk ins are also welcome, so get planning your next trip out! Don’t play by the rules – come get weird with us for your next family adventure in Newcastle!
