With over 20 burgers to choose from, including beef, chicken and five vegan burger options, there’s something to suit all in your group.
Located a 5 minute walk from our venue, you’ll also find a large variety of sides and veggie options, as well as a drinks menu serving plenty of shakes, slushies and shots!
This is the kind of good wholesome food where you’re going to need to sit down for a while after, so make sure you visit Junkyard Golf Club before your visit, rather than after.

SUSHI ME ROLLIN’ | SUSHI RESTAURANT
After proving to be successful from their shipping container in Stack, they launched their first official restaurant in Newcastle last year – and it’s only a 5 minute walk from our venue!
Their mission is to serve the freshest sushi in Newcastle, with their own unique modern twist, using flavours from all over the world. They stay true to their name, so unlike other sushi restaurants in Newcastle, don’t expect hundreds of options on the menu – but do expect some of the best tasting sushi, within a great atmosphere.
HORTICULTURE BAR & RESTAURANT | SMALL FRESH PLATES
Launched by Peter Breckon, who was born and raised in Newcastle, this is a true Geordie restaurant with locally sourced, fresh organic ingredients and it’s only a 7 minute walk from Junkyard Golf Club!
Like most places on this list, the vibe is fun yet chilled – think high quality food and great cocktails, at affordable prices.
“Social dining” is encouraged, with plenty of hearty small plates designed for sharing, so if you’re planning on being out all day (or all night), this could be the best option for filling your stomach without ending up in a food coma.
VEGANO | VEGAN CAFE
Vegano is less than a 10 minute walk from our venue and definitely worth a visit, even if you’re not vegan.
Their menu is full of flavour and perfect for a casual bite, with kebabs, pizzas, burgers and pasta to choose from. Or if you’re after more of a light bite, visit for a quick cake and coffee stop.
Their venue is on the smaller side and can quickly fill up during peak times, so to avoid disappointment they recommend booking a table.

KING NEPTUNE | AUTHENTIC CHINESE CUISINE
Less than a 4 minute walk from Junkyard Golf Club, you’ll find King Neptune. They’re the longest running Chinese restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne, serving authentic Chinese dishes including all of the classics, as well as an extensive seafood menu. You’ll find sweet and sour monkfish, lobster with ginger and spring onions, stir fried scallops and much more.
They describe themselves as warm and unfussy, which is all we need to know – although being at the top of TripAdvisor for restaurants in ChinaTown does cement them as a place you should try too.
LOLA JEANS | MODERN FOOD, WITH A CLASSIC TWIST
Where contemporary meets traditional, Lola Jeans is famous for their burgers, tacos and eclectic decor. Mixing modern with contemporary, Lola Jeans is based in what was once a derelict warehouse, bringing the space to life with large chandeliers and murals. They describe the style as being “unobtainable by anyone else in the city”, which is probably why they’ve been rated as one of the top ten places to visit for drinks and nightlife in Newcastle.
Less than a 5 minute walk from Junkyard Golf Club, as well as their burgers (for which they’ve won ‘Battle of the Burger’ 5 years in a row) and tacos, you’ll find a great selection of cocktails, platters and sides.
*bonus points* : they’re dog friendly!
CHAOPHRAYA | GLAMOROUS THAI DINING
Maybe one of the most well known on the list, but we couldn’t leave off Chaophraya, especially given it’s less than a 5 minute walk away.
Chaophraya manages to mix fine dining and delicious food with affordability, with their dishes being more than reasonably priced. And they have a covered outdoor terrace!
If you like Thai food and haven’t visited this place before, there’s really nothing else to say than, what are you waiting for?
